Delrin (Polyoxymethylene)

Delrin®, the homopolymer form of Acetal, is a strong, durable plastic known for high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability. It is widely used in precision plastic parts due to its mechanical strength, wear resistance, and ability to perform well in high-load applications. Delrin also has good resistance to moisture, chemicals, and UV exposure, making it suitable for automotive, electrical, and industrial applications. Its low friction and high strength make it ideal for gears, bearings, and other moving parts, though it is susceptible to impact cracking in some conditions.

Advantages of Delrin for Plastic Parts:

Like most polymers used in plastic part production, Delrin exhibits exceptional Structural Integrity, Chemical Resistance, and Dielectrical Properties. It has good temperature resistance, with an operating range of -40° to 90°C. Attributes that separate it from other polymers:

Low coefficient of Friction - Delrin’s low COF provides smooth movement and exceptional wear resistance.

Strong fatigue endurance - Delrin has been observed to withstand cyclic compression and tensile stresses of up to 5,000 psi.

Varied, enduring aesthetics - can be easily colored and finished resulting in pleasing aesthetics for consumer applications.

Applications Best Suited for this Material:

One of the strongest and stiffest polymers available, the dimensional stability, strength, and wear resistance delivered by Delrin make it an excellent polymer for repetitive stress, weight-bearing, and high-friction applications: bearings, bushings, gears, and rollers. It is commonly used in automotive, construction, consumer goods, and electronics applications where these attributes are important.

Parts we make from Delrin:

We manufacture parts for gears, bearings, bushings, fittings and housings with Delrin for industries including automotive, aerospace, medical, electronics, and machinery.
