Centerless Grinding: Preparing Bar Stock for Precision Parts
Centerless grinding is a machining process that removes material from the outer diameter of cylindrical parts without the need for a center or spindle. It is a highly efficient and precise method to achieve high-precision diameters and very fine finishes. We employ this process for both bar stock we utilize to make customer parts, as well as for customers seeking bar stock they will process themselves.
Centerless Grinder
We use our Royal Master TG 12x4 centerless grinding machine to prepare stock for our production runs as well as to grind plastic rods of up to .750" in diameter for stock customers.
Plastics we Grind
Bar stock up to .750” in diameter with as much as .005” variation in its mill form can be centerless ground to a .0003” total diameter tolerance. Plastics we grind include Teflon®, Nylon, Acrylic, Ultem® 1000, and PEEK, among others. Click to see our full list of materials we grind.
